Welcome to C.A.L.M.
Care for Activists in Liberation Movements
An Inclusive Space of Spiritual Renewal for Activists
We make Care a Priority.
Many of us are carrying the heavy weight of our activist lives with no where to put that weight down. In the Spring of 2021, we invited a few friends to join us and created sacred space in one’s own homes- over zoom. We met regularly and allowed each person to bring their whole selves, an aspect of spiritual practice that has been denied to many of us in many different ways.
What if I’m not religious, is this still for me? YES!
The call to create a just world stems from our core beliefs, and the ones at VJC are inherent worth and sacredness. We hold space for your spiritual self regardless of your religious (or lack there of) beliefs. We use this time to create a multicultural community of whomever shows up, always centering the most marginalized and oppressed groups.
C.A.L.M. is a way to honor our needs as people, rooted in activist principles and values, so we can continue to fight for justice. We welcome people of all backgrounds, spiritual paths, and beliefs of good will, while rooted in Unitarian Universalist practices. Come and enjoy the music, the readings, and the community.
